Group Discounts for Churches
For many years, we have been aware of copyright laws and artists royalties. In the church environment, we are required to and want to operate ethically and within the law, so each church is required to purchase licenses to enable them to be in compliance with copyright laws. In order to facilitate the best price possible for the entire group of licenses you may need, your BC Conference office has negotiated some group pricing to help make good and efficient use of the dollars allotated for these licenses:
According to the Canadian Copyright Act (CCA), all public presentations of copyrighted VHS/DVD movies must be licensed with a rights representative. All viewings outside the home and/or within public organizations require a license granting specific authorization. A church is considered a public organization. Without obtaining the proper licenses, you or your church may be in violation of the CCA and subject to substantial civil and/or criminal penalties.
As a member church of the BC MB Conference, we have negoiated for you a discount on group licenses for the two rights representatives that will provide the licenses as necessary to comply with the CCA.
Audio-Cine Films (ACF) offers churches and religious organizations licensing coverage. They offer annual public performance VHS/DVD copyright site licenses that give access to 1000's of feature length films and allow for unlimited presentation of any and all films produces by the studios they exclusively represent. This includes "The Passion of the Christ" and all VeggieTales videos. Please see their website a complete listing of the studios they represent.
Criterion Pictures in the non-theatrical distributor of feature films for many of Hollywood's major motion pictures studios. Criterion represents many studios ACF does not. This includes DreamWorks, Pixar and Walt Disney films. Please see their webiste for a complete listing of the studios they represent.
Please contact Michelle at the BC MB Conference office if you would like to join any of these group discounts (firstname.lastname@example.org).
Much like the CCA requires a license for public presentations of VHS/DVD movies, a license must be acquired for the public show of songs.
The Christian Copyright Licensing International (CCLI) is the most comprehensive, convenient and cost effective means of copyright clearance available for songs used in congregational signing. CCLI covers a vast selection of song titles to keep your worship services fresh and creative.
The BC MB Conference has negotiated a 20% discount for each church. Each price is different based on attendance, ranging from $110-$562 for a yearly license. All Engllish speaking churches are signed up in this discount. If you have any questions about your status with CCLI, please contact Michelle at email@example.com or phone 604 853 6959.
This is an offer from BC Hydro Power Smart. We now have made contact and set up a corporate account so that all our BC MB Churches can participate in the Power Smart Incentive Program. Besides saving you money on hydro bills, this program will benefits all British Columbians by being smart users of electricity.
Something that you need to keep in mind is that the standard bulbs and fluorescent bulbs (T12) will not be available as a replacement bulb by the year 2010. This means, before that time, you will need to change ballasts and bulbs anyway. If you start planning now to revamp your electric draw by installing energy saving ballast, bulbs and fixtures, and your savings meet the BC Power Smart criteria, you will receive cash back from BC HYDRO. What's not to like about that??
You will need to work with a certified electrician to cost out your changes and to evaluate your energy savings. Then there is a process to go through to apply to have your upgrades accepted as part of this program.
Our key account manager is RAJ and his contact number is 604 453-6334 or email. Just tell RAJ that you are a church with the BC Conference of MB Churches.
