Doing the Right Thing
Risk Management manual *updated 04.30.07*
A Biblical example of good risk management is that of the good shepherd. The shepherd cares for his flock. This caring involves both risk taking and risk management. Jesus warned that the thief comes to steal, kill and destroy (John 10:10). The good shepherd, alert to these dangers, guards the flock.
The ownership of THE GOOD SHEPHERD PRINCIPLE (a.k.a. risk management) must rest with the leadership board (council, elders, deacons) of your church. In order to facilitate that, we are recommending that every church add a Risk Management Committee to their governance structure.
Below are the sections of the Risk Management manual that we have to assist you in that (constantly under construction):
- Section 1 RISKS TO PEOPLE AND PROPERTY
- Section 2 DIRECTORS AND OFFICIERS LIABILITY
- Section 3 CHURCH BUSINESS LIABILITIES
- Section 4 PASTORAL HANDBOOK (sections available)
- Section 5 EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK
- Section 6 FINANCIAL HANDBOOK
